MAJOR GEORGE NELSON, sat the Sikorsky Black Hawk Helicopter down on a seldom used taxiway of the Lask US Air Force Base in Lodz, Germany and waited.
Within minutes, armed soldiers from Base Security had flanked the helicopter and were staging their assault. When Major Nelson saw the troops move into the Wedge Formation and their leader give the ‘I’m ready’ signal, he immediately got on the chopper’s loud speaker an announced in German, English, and Polish, “I am Air Force pilot Major George Nelson. On board with me are Air Force Colonel Jim Madison, two Navy Seals, Operations Officer Roy Johnson and Chief Petty Officer Tavin Kaslowski. Also on board is a Russian civilian by the name of Alyosha Vasnev. We are landing at Lask by order of the President of the United States of America.”
There was a long silence as Nelson and the men he’d rescued from the Black Dolphin prison waited for the soldiers to lower their weapons and hopefully, orders to disembark.
“You on board, step out of the helicopter with your hands raised above your heads. Once you are outside on the tarmac, you will immediately turn and face the helicopter. If you make any attempt to run or escape, you will be shot. Is that clear?” was the reply.
“I believe this is where you get out White boy,” Johnson said jokingly to Kaslowski.
“Senior officers first,” returned Kaslowski.
“No way, Johnson replied laughingly. You know they always ‘accidentally’ shot the Black guy.”
“That’s why you’re getting out first. Saves time and bullets,” laughed Kaslowski.
Alyosha was growing more and more fearful by the second, as Johnson and Kaslowski bantered back and forth.
“Gentlemen, I believe our hosts are growing impatient,” Madison announced. Unstrapping himself, he raised his hands above his head, and stepped out of the helicopter onto German soil.
MEANWHILE, back at The Peace Court in The Hague, Netherlands, court was in full session with The Registrar nearing the end of the reading of the list of charges and offenses against those countries that had participated in the war against the United States, when the Russian President, Spiridon Ivanovich, jumped to his feet and screamed, “You Damn Arab Tinker! Traitorous bastard! I will hang you by your agal!”
There were audible gasps throughout the room and the international panel of Judges pounded their gavels with furious intensity against the round brown blocks on their desks.
“Oder in the Court,” yelled the President of the Court, a Frenchman. The Court does not recognize the Russian President’s right to speak. President Ivanovich please take your seat.”
A smug look of satisfaction spread across President Khamis’ face as he took in the Russian President’s obvious agitation over what he assumed – given his outburst – had been a successful mission. If Madison’s team had indeed succeeded in rescuing him, then by all means, he must meet with Madison face to face and soon. Ivanovich was no fool, thought Khamis. And he had thousands of dead Americans to prove it. Ivanovich, he guessed, knew exactly who Madison and his team had been hunting and why. If Ruyah al-Basir bint al-Azia bin al-Saba and her weapon fell into the hands of the Russian President, America would spend the rest of its days capitulating to Russia and that, Khamis, knew must not happen, at least, not while he was President.
Rising to the occasion, but ignoring the Russian President’s racial slurs, Khamis baited the man by responding, “Need I remind you President Ivanovich that it was your country that perpetrated the offenses against America? And it was by your orders — while you sat here in this Hallowed Place – Khamis shouted waiving his hand in the direction of the Judges — that one of our citizens was kidnapped and held against his will. You have no reason to complain treachery given that I have not destroyed thousands of acres of your land and killed as many people by dropping atomic bombs on you?”
“Order! Order in the Court! President Ivanovich and President Khamis you are both, hereby ordered to remove yourselves from The Court’s presence.”
Again Khamis smiled for that was exactly what he wanted.
BACK IN NEW YORK, Stone called Missy into his office and asked, “Where was President Khamis born?”
“I don’t know, sir.”
“Find out. And Missy, schedule a Press Conference for me on Wednesday on the main floor. I have a major announcement to make. I’ll give you all the specifics later.”
“Yes, sir.”
